Here is the first time I try this on,so i match with two things totally different: a short blazer + Chinese style pants. Wonder what will it be ? :)

It was his virgin Expo for museum, he gave it to Musée des Beaux Arts à Montréal.

How does your home town influence your style?

Je viens de Laval, en banlieue de Montréal, mais beaucoup de gens pensent que je viens de plus loin, de la campagne ou d'une autre région du Québec. Le truc, c'est qu'une grande partie de Laval est très "banlieue", alors que le Laval que je connais est beaucoup plus campagne. J'ai comme grandi dans une zone entre les deux, dans une banlieue qui n'était pas une banlieue, dans la campagne mais pas vraiment à la campagne ......

Your love story with Montreal.

Montréal est une ville agréable, relaxante, où il est plutôt facile d'être créatif, mais beaucoup plus difficile de vivre de son art. Il y a beaucoup d'artistes à Montréal, en fait beaucoup trop pour le public, qui est restreint.

What does fashion do?

Ça sert à contrôler les gens. Je préfère le style : apprendre à développer son style, c'est apprendre à se connaître soi-même. La mode n'aide pas à se connaître, elle permet juste de se fondre dans un groupe pour une période X, et quand ce n'est plus à la mode, tout est à recommencer. Le style, lui, est unique et s'élabore avec le temps. Comme du bon vin :-)

Benda in Toronto

Benda was invited by his good friend Yoko to visit Toronto.There
they had a unforgettable summer. Yoko took Benda shop in
almost all the Goodwill and Value Villages. Benda also became the
finalist in Teresa Teng Singing Contest, which was really a gift
I've never been thinking of.

We met many intresting prople in the street, but mostly, we've tried
a lot of delicious food from all over the world. Of course, Chinese ones
included.Each time we couldn't stand up after eating... How crazy!

Toronto is such a mixed pizza. And it's also a musculin city for me. It
reminds me a lot my home town ShenYang in China, but it also looks
like Beijing, Shanghai, GuangZhou(Canton) in some ways. But still not
neither of them. It's really different from Montreal, people are so busy,
and mostly in their tiny own universe.

Thank you Yoko, hope we could hang out again soon!

It has been almost 4 years I live in Québec, 100% made in China, reproduced in Québec,
The Québecois artists influence me little by little since I live in this culture.

Céline Dion, one of the biggist artists in the world,
I didn't know that she came from Québec before I came to Canada.
Cause her name is always attached with Titanic,
and I thought she was from USA...
But now I know another side of her,
which shows another personality of her,
which makes me feel closer to her ,
that is her francophone side.

Micheal Tramblay, at the beginning when I learned my French,
my home stay bought one of his famous work: Les belles soeurs,
we played the roles by reading the lines of the script.
The way he wrote Quebecois expressions made me laught,
although I didn't understand them all. But I found them really funny.
Same as Richard Dejardins' lyrics.

Tête à claque, the first Québecois cartoon I've seen.
Funny funny, Villi-Voler 2006. I'll never forget the big lips!

Xavier Dolan, houlàlà, I really like the way he «kills his mom».
Talant, mature and ture. Bravo.

BENDA was invited to design 3 T-shirts for the Italian brand DIADORA's 2011 S/S Collection. It's for the charity action in both mainland China and HongKong. Benda is so glad that his works could help the others. It was always a dream for him to do the charity by using his creations. Here dream will come true! :)

BENDA on the BUS

BENDA was invited modeling for the advertising on Maheux Bus. The bus travels between Abitibi-Témiscamigue and Montréal. It was for the 50th anniversary of the bus company Maheux, and also for the 25th birthday of UQAT (Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue). Benda was so honored to be chosen as a representation of China. This ads will existe from 2008-2013. Hope the passengers could feel the warmness which broght from this ads. Coz the winter in Québec is really collllllllld...... :)

I was nominated as “Personality of the year 2009” by a Quebec organisation FORCES AVENIR, which aims to recognize, honour and promote the commitment of young people in projects which enrich knowledge, arouse the desire for success and for surpassing oneself, encourage the development of community thinking and thus contribute to the development of socially conscious, active and responsible citizens who are both dedicated to their community and open to the world.

This honor really encouraged me continuing what I did in the past: learning hard for French, trying to know deeply about another culture and community, creat a column [BENDA] between the orient and occident. I will certainly keep working out my dreams! Maybe one day being a culturel ambassador.

I think that each and every one of us has the duty to act as a good citizen, a good international citizen. As a citizen of the world, I have to contribute to the progress of the place where I live and where I work.”

When Benda meets Yves Saint Laurent

In 2008, Monsieur Yves Saint-Laurent has passed away. Leaving us so many fascinating creations, Benda was visiting Montreal as a student at that time, there happened to have his remembering exhibition at Musée de beaux arts à Montréal.

So Benda went there with best friends. Actually, that was the fist time Benda got to know his works. (What a shame to be a fashionista like thai huh?) But I became a fan of his talent since then. Especially the serie of Fine Arts, such as Mondrian's painting. So I got this idea: let Benda dedicate to his amazing dress, just wear them!

I can really feel this : la mode se démode, le style jamais .

BENDA was invited by ELLE China, did a small comic about fashion icons, also interviewed for talking about style and icons.

Um, a little bit of the story:

The girl went to a shop which sells the models of big fashion icons. People can get inside the model and when they come out they`ll turn into the style of what they buy.

So this girl wanted Audrey, but the sale said that Audrey is extinct coz her style is too classic in nowadays. And then the girl asked for Ladygaga, then the sale told her that gaga is so popular that was sold out.

The girl was leaving, dissapointedly. Then he met an agent who searches model for making this kind of model to produce. And he asked if she want to be the model of next season. She wondered why. He said that she's different from all the other girls on street(which all look like ladygaga).

So she was happy, saying:No.thanks!

What's fashion got to do with it?

I was sitting in the metro, reading thoses big news in Haiti, which are even in the entertainment and fashion section. Can't help questioning: What's fashion got to do with it?

The most popular singer Ms. Lady Gaga, made these two fields hade in hand. She has collected $500000 for Haiti by her charity show. Also sell a Tee for collecting money. The fashion saves victims.

In Montreal, even the street artists are having a special show for Haiti. They got together singing in the metro for goodness-sum. But I still heard some young guys saying：well, charity, it's just the business of the celebrities, not us.

This made me think of the earthquake in Sichuan 2008. I was in Canada, studying, heard about this catastrophe in my motherland. I couldn't do anything for her, for my people. I just took out my pens, drew down what I felt…

BENDA doesn't have the celebrity charm, hope oneday, I could do something for the charity with my own artistic works. Thinking of these, I put some little money in the box, which was front of the street artists, praying for the victims on the Port-au-Prince…

Charity could be a fashion, but hope it won't last long, coz no one wants more catastrophes.

I always heard the word CHINA when I am in foreign country. Many questions like above run after me. Lots of topics of China take my attention. Some cheer me up, some make me down, some give me pround, some let me loss. But mostly, they encourage me to recollect,
to recollect what we have and what we are. Of course, I mix with my nostalgy and my love for my motherland, China.

My parents were born in the 60s. They experienced more histories than our generation, so the deeper chinese tradition and culture accompanied them since long time ago.
As I always think that the 80s’ generation is so lucky. Why? Because we have not only the good values from our parents, but also the openness to the new tandence in the world. But in my own eyes, this CHINA is more objective, coz now I’m living far away from her, surveying her, paying ''close'' attention to her. And the further I’m away from her, the intenser love I’ve got for her： I need to do something for her! But what?

All those questions above gave me an idea, as I always wanted to work in a magazine publicing industry, and I’m in the major of communication and art, why not just answer these questions by my own way : A MAGAZINE?

I wanner show my country to my foreign friends, I’ll show them a new China, a dragon woken up, be ready to create a new tendance in the world. Here gose with my drawings, photography, and my articles.

Hope that in the future, people won’t only knowong Bruce Lee or chopsticks when they hear the word China. And Hope all the young generations in the world won’t forget their roots!
